The Math Diagnostic is a test on I-Ready.

Its background is blue.

Detail[]

The diagnostic will start with a video of a sixth grade female named Vivi for grades 3-5 or a 9th grade male named Devin for grades 6-12. She/he will tell you about when she/he took the diagnostic. For grades K-2, Plory and Yoop will tell you how to answer the questions. Then, you will learn about the Algebra and Algebraic Thinking and Number and Operations tools. After this, the test will start. The math diagnostic includes brain breaks and games in its breaks, like Rocky's Game (discontinued), Cat Stacker, Dig Site, or Galaxy Sprint.

Then, you are asked to look at each tool and then you will be brought to the Math test session. After about 50%, you will learn about Measurement and Data and Geometry tools. After the Diagnostic, you will be given a number based on what you got correct, not how many, unlike on a quiz at your school. This will be the basis to your Math lessons.

Trivia[]

  • After the 2019-2020 school year, i-Ready would first ask you whether you are in your school or not, due to COVID-19 reasons. Selecting Yes or No would bring you into the test. As of the 2023-2024 school year, it does not ask you anymore.
