Working with Words

Working with Words is a series in i-Ready. It has many parts and is seen in Plory and Yoop Vocabulary Lessons in Levels AA-B. The characters seen are Plory and Yoop, and Snargg.

Introduction

The introduction shows Plory and Yoop entering the playhouse then entering the Vocabulab.

Parts

1. Text: The user reads a text that includes the words they will learn in the Working with Words lesson.
2. Word Learning: The user learns words. The number varies from three to six depending on the level.
3. Word Journal: The user is required to put labels to the pictures in the word journal.
4. Picture Naming: The user fills in blanks and completes the sentences using the picture to explain it.
5. Parrots: The user listens to the parrots and chooses which parrot makes sense.
6. That Makes Sense: The user looks at the sentence and chooses if the sentence makes sense or not by using buttons.
7. Word Power: The user has to match the tablets to their synonyms or antonyms.
8. Hungry Snargg: The user must feed Snargg synonym or antonym snacks.
9. Major Peril's Questions: The user must answer questions asked by Major Peril.
10. Snargg’s Party: The user is required to place keys in Snargg’s party box to set up the party. This is rarely seen. So rare that it only appears in three lessons. They are in Levels A and B.
11. Review: At the end of most lessons, a review of words taught in the previous is done.

Picture Naming, the parrots, that makes sense, tablet word power, and hungry Snargg might appear multiple times or appear in a different order. Some might not appear in some Lessons. Picture Naming appears in all Working with Words Lessons except for one.

• Depending on the level, the lesson will have three to six vocabulary words (these are abbreviated to save space). This makes a total of 336 words.
  • WWW1 to WW8 Level AA has three words.
  • WW9 Level AA to WWW8 Level A has four words.
  • WW9 Level A to WW8 Level B has five words.
  • WW9 to WW24 Level B has six words.
• Each level has 24 Working with Words lessons, totaling 72.
• Some lessons do not have reviews, as these lessons mark a transitional stage, which occur in WW1 (early on grade), WW9 (mid on grade), and WW17 (late on grade).
